Kate + Ben’s relationship started at the beach. Kate was in grad school at MUSC and spent spent her weekends on Sullivan’s Island. One weekend, on a whim, she decided to drive 45 minutes out of her way to Folly Beach. She had never visited Folly and certainly didn’t expect to be making any life altering decisions that day. She picked a secluded spot just to the right of the pier and sat down to soak up the sun. Five minutes later a classmate texted and invited her to a cast party going on at Folly. Kate gladly accepted, hoping to get to meet some movie stars! It was at that party she met a tan, sandy-haired electrician that she would spend the rest of her life with. Ben and Kate were inseparable ever since. On their first date they went to Morris Island on Ben’s boat to see the lighthouse, which has become a symbol of their relationship. Ben and Kate got married at the Cotton Dock at Boone Hall Plantation later that year.
